Passengers who cannot travel alone without a Support Person may travel with a companion capable of providing the required assistance. The Support Person must be at least 12 years old and travels free in the same class of service.
Where necessary, the companion is expected to assist VIA personnel in boarding and disembarking the passenger and in helping the passenger move about while on board.
To take advantage of this privilege, there are two options:
Certain home policy insurances include the Aladin Program; the former offers free access to multiples services following a hospitalization.

- Emotional support;
- Home support;
- Nursing;
- Housekeeping;
- Babysitting.
Marielle Savard never used those services so one would have to check if there are fees for materials etc.

- If you care for someone who has her teeth but can’t spit after brushing her teeth, Mi-Paste can be swallowed without irritating the stomach. There are different flavors and you can have fluoride (Mi-Paste Plus) or not. It is not sold in drugstores. One has to buy it from the dentist.
You can buy a cushion for portable toilets.
